Hockey is played with hard rubber disk called a puck. It is 2.5 cm thick and 7.6 cm in diameter. It weighs about 170 grams. It reaches speeds of more than 150 Km/hr.

1) A puck is 2.5 cm thick. How many millimeters is that?




2) A puck is 7.6 cm in diameter. What is the radius of the puck? What is the circumference of the puck?








3) If a puck travels at the speed of 150 Km/hour, how many km will it go in one minute? About how long will it take to travel 100 meters?

2) radius = 3.8 cm

circumference = 3.14 x 7.6 = 23.86 cm

3) It goes 150 Km in 60 minutes. It is 2.5 Km/minute.

2.5 Km = 2500 meters
It goes 2500 meters in 60 seconds.
It will go about 40 meters in one second.
It will take about 2 to 3 seconds to travel 100 meters.
