Sheet # 2/Tulips

Name: _____________________ Date_____________

Explain and Show Your Work

Last Fall Molly planted 4 tulip bulbs in her garden. The bulbs were placed in a row from left to right, four inches apart. The first bulb planted was a purple tulip. The second one was a red tulip. The next one was a yellow tulip. The last tulip bulb planted was a pink one. Draw and label a picture that shows how this row of tulip plants will look when each one blooms in the Spring. Then use your diagram to answer the following questions.

Draw your picture here.

1) Show how to find the distance between the purple tulip and the yellow tulip.

2) How long is this row of tulips?

3)  How much longer would this row need to be to plant 1 more tulip? 2 more tulips? 3 more tulips?
