Sheet # 3/Multi-step Easter Math Problems

Name: _____________________ Date_____________

Explain and Show Your Work

1) Lindsay has been saving her allowance to buy a pet bunny by Easter. The bunny costs $36.00. There are now four weeks remaining until Easter and she has already saved $20. According to Lindsay's calculations, by Easter she will not only have enough money for the pet rabbit but she will have $8.00 remaining with which to buy bunny food. How much allowance does Lindsay get each week?

2) The Easter Bunnies are busy painting eggs for the Easter egg roll on the White House lawn. If the bunnies work for two weeks they think they will have enough eggs. They can paint 5 and 1/2 eggs in an hour. Their work schedule is 8 hours each weekday and 4 hours each on Saturday and Sunday. They feel they need at least 350 eggs to make the event a success. Will they have enough eggs? How many more will they need? How many extra eggs will be made?

3) Twenty-four second graders collected 48 colored Easter eggs. They collected blue, pink, and yellow eggs. There are two times as many yellow as blue and 4 more pink ones than blue ones. How many of each color did they collect?

Answers for sheet # 3

1) Amount of money saved in 4 weeks = $36 + $8 - $20 = $24. So amount saved in one week is $24/4 = $6.

2) 528 eggs were made in two weeks. 96 hours x 5 1/2.

528 - 350 = 178 eggs extra

3) 11 blue, 22 yellow, and 15 pink
