Sheet # 10/Apples

Name: _____________________ Date_____________

Explain and Show Your Work.

There are three baskets of apples, A, B and C.
The basket A contains 4 times the apples in basket C.
The basket B contains 16 fewer apples than basket A.
The basket C contains half the number of apples as in basket B.
Find the number of apples in each basket.

Answer:

A is the number of apples in basket A
B is the number of apples in basket B
C is the number of apples in basket C

A = 4C
B = A - 16
C = B/2

B = 2C

Using above equations,

A = 32
C = 8
B = 16
