Sheet # 136 Halloween

Name: _____________________ Date_____________

It was Halloween night. Valerie and Kasey went Trick-or Treating. When they got home, they had 4 bags full of candy, 2 bags each. When they put their candy altogether, they counted 500 pieces of candy. Kasey had 200 pieces of candy and Valerie had 300 pieces of candy.

1) When they checked their candy, Kasey had 26 pieces of candy that were open and Valerie had 16 pieces that were open, so they threw them away. How many pieces of candy did Kasey have left? How many pieces of candy did Valerie have left?

2) Then Kasey was left with 174 pieces of candy and Valerie had 284 pieces of candy left. In order for them to have the same amount of candy, how many pieces of candy does Valerie need to give Kasey? How many pieces will they both have?

3) Their mother came in and told Kasey he couldn't have any candy that had peanuts in it. Kasey then had to go through his candy and take out the candy that had peanuts in it. Kasey found that he had 4 PayDays, 2 Zagnuts, and 7 Snickers. How many candy bars did he have with peanuts in them?

4) Valerie said that she would trade Kasey his candy that had peanuts in them for candy that didn't have peanuts in them. Valerie traded him 3 Hersey's, 6 Milky Ways, 3 Starburst, and 1 Tangy Taffy. Do they still have the same amount of candy?

Answers for sheet # 136

1) Kasey has 200 - 26 = 174 candies
Valerie has 300 - 16 = 284 candies

2) Valerie needs to give 55 candies to Kesey. Each will have 229 candies
174 + 284 = 458 candies

3) 4 + 2 + 7 = 13 candies

4) Valerie will give 3 + 6 + 3 + 1 = 13 candies and will receive 13 peanut candies. Yes, they will have the same amount of candy.
