Over the River and Through the Woods
Over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go.

1) There is a bridge that goes over the river. It is 12 yards long. How many feet long is the bridge?

2) When we go through the woods we see lots of trees. One of the trees has a circumference (distance around) of 232 inches. Another tree has a circumference of 191 inches. How much bigger is the first tree?

3) The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh o'er the white and drifted snow. We feed the horse a good breakfast before the trip. For a treat, we give him an apple and a carrot. The apple cost $0.16 and the carrot cost two cents less. If we paid for them with two quarters, how much change did we get back?

4) It has been snowing for two days. Yesterday we had 6 inches of snow, and today the weather forecaster predicts that we will get double that amount. How much snow will we get today?

5) Over the river and through the woods, oh how the wind does blow!
It stings our toes and bites our nose as over the ground we go.
There are four people in the sleigh. How many toes are in the sleigh?

6) Grandma is waiting for us to arrive. We left home at 9:30 a.m., and it will take two and a half hours to get there. What time will we get to Grandma's?

7) Grandma will give us hot chocolate with marshmallows. The number of marshmallows she uses is even. It is a two digit number. It is more than twenty, but less than thirty. The tens digit is half of the ones digit. How many marshmallows did Grandma put in the hot chocolate?
