A clothing store offers a 50% discount on shirts on every Saturday between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. Derek wants to buy a shirt at the store and he say, " I have got a great idea! I will wait two weeks, have 100% off, and get it for free!" Explain to your friend Derek why he is incorrect and find the correct percent discount on the original price of a shirt.

Use an example to explain why Derek is incorrect. Suppose a shirt costs $10 without discount. After first 50% discount, shirt costs $5. After 2nd 50% discount, same shirt costs $2.50. The net discount is 75% on the original price.
