Explain and Show Your Work.

1) It costs $2 per person to rent bowling shoes and $3 per team for each game played. What expression shows the cost to a team of two people playing t games?

2) I'm thinking of a number. If I add 3 to it and then double, the answer is 22. Write an equation that will help you find the number.

3) Toni had $10.00. She rented 3 videos at the same price and bought a drink for $1.35. Her change was $3.40. Write an equation that will help you find how much she paid to rent each video.

4) Jolene had 5 sports cards. She bought 3 packs with the same number of cards in each pack. If she now has 35 cards in all, how many were in each pack?

Answers:
1)
n: number of people
t: numer of games
c: cost

c = 2n + 3t

2)

n: mystery number

2( n + 3) = 22

3)

Video price: p

10 - 3p - 1.35 = 3.40

4)
number of cards in each pack = n

5 + 3n = 35
n = 10
