Answers for sheet # 214

1) -5 + 15 = 10 ° at noon.

2) 110 ¸ 8 = $13.75 that the seller first wanted
70 ¸ 8 = $8.75 that John finally paid

3) $782.10 x 1/3 = $260.70 for Larry
$782.10 - $260.70 = $521.40 for Jon.
$260.70 x ½ = $130.35 spent by Larry
$521.40 x ½ = $260.70 spent by Jon.

After buying the presents, Jon and Larry had $391.05 between them.

4) (10 + 10) x 2 + 4 - 13 - N = 8 people left
20 x 2 + 4 - 13 - n = 8
40 + 4 – 13 – n = 8
44 – 13 – n = 8
31 – n = 8; n = 23 more people left

5) $100 x ¼ = $25 for the hat
$100 - $25 = $75 left
$75 x 1/10 = $7.50 for the candy
$75 - $7.50 = $67.50 left
$67.50 x 1/5 = $13.50 taken by the bully
$67.50 - $13.50 = $54 left for Bob
