Gold isn't always yellow. Sometimes it has a reddish tint to it. Sometimes it's red with a tint of gold. Sometimes it's green, orange, yellow, or white. It can even be pink and rose. Obviously, when a piece of gold is one of these colors, the gold itself had been tainted with other elements such as copper, silver, nickel and cadmium.

Karat is used to describe the gold articles. Pure gold is 100% gold and it is called 24 karat. The 18- karat gold article consists of 75% gold and 25% other metals. The 14-karat gold contains 58.5% gold and 41.5% other metals. The 10-karat gold contains 41.7% gold and 58.3% other metals.
