Use drawings, words, or numbers to explain how you got your answer.

Tom's brother, Harry, claims that he has put over 2,300 lights on the Christmas tree and that he spent less than $70.00 on lights. Tom, however, thinks that Harry has fewer lights than that and spent more money than what he is claiming. The following is the sales receipt for the lights Harry purchased from a store.

100-light set 10 sets @ $3.95/set
200-light set 5 sets @ $6.95/set

Who is correct?

Answer for sheet # 9

Harry spent

10 sets x $3.95/set = $39.50
5 sets x $6.95/set = $34.75

Total cost = $74.25

Total of lights
10 sets x 100 light/set = 1000 lights
5 sets x 200 lights/set = 1000 lights

Total lights = 2000

Tom is correct.
